MATERIAL OVERDOSE
While working at the Material Library at the Design Museum Holon, I took part in organizing and creating many interesting projects, one that stands out is the Design Hackaton - Material Overdose. In museums, most projects are planned years ahead, this one was different, we had an idea and then we had 6 months to make it happen.
The context of the Hackathon was the exhibition going on at the time in the museum - Overdose, a design art exhibition consisting of chosen pieces from the extensive collection of Galila Barzilai Hollander. Of every day objects turned extreme.
The participants were asked to create a method to design a product/object/furniture utilizing existing materials from their everyday surroundings. The goal being trash to treasure: using the wealth of the unused materials around us as a basis for new designs, to motivate a creative process based on the principles of circular design. The participants were divided into teams that included professionals from different fields.

Based on that concepts of sustainability, the whole event was held according to the ideals of cradle to cradle and the principles of circular design - the coffee was served in reusable cups to ensure a reduction in waste, as was the lunch. And even recycled sketch notebooks created from paper bags were distributed to the participants.
The winning group won a very sought after prize- a flight to Poland for a design workshop. In addition, all the products were displayed in a pop-up exhibition among the pieces of the Overdose exhibition.
